If you got a 1099 they treated you as an independent contractor instead of an employee. You will need to report that as self-employment income, and pay self-employment tax on top of the usual income tax. If you haven't been saving up or filing estimated taxes during the year (essentially withholding your own taxes) it can make for an unpleasant surprise at tax time.
But hopefully you've kept receipts. That's business income, so you are entitled to subtract the costs of generating that income (unreimbursed mileage, tools, job-specific clothes, phone calls, etc.) and pay federal taxes only on the profit. State taxes may work differently for you.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
