The Constitution is the BASIS for American law. But it is not the be-all-end-all of American law. Statutory, criminal, administrative, case law and civil law are built on English common law within the parameters of the Constitution.
Morality is irrelevant in law. Most people agree that adultery is immoral, and yet it is legal. When you look at the law you look at the law as it is written.
If you feel it is immoral, then change the law.
I try to look at both. The illegal immigration debate is a great one and yes, you could argue that we are all human beings and we should allow anyone to live here. Problem is, libs have already created a mess.
IF there were no welfare or social programs, I wouldn't be concerned. Because, like many of our ancestors, you'd have to come here and be ready, willing, and able to support yourself. If that were the case, I'd have no issue with any person coming from anywhere in the world to have a better opportunity for themselves or their family.
That's what we used to be. But liberals have killed that. Now, because of social programs, we, as tax payers, have to worry who is coming over to milk our system.
Who is coming here to collect welfare and send checks home? Who is taking advantage of the system? So moral is more important than what someone has determined is legal or not in my opinion.
But there's nothing compassionate, or moral, about handouts that have destroyed our country.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
