If you are an olympic athlete then yes. But if you don't do much than no. You can survive off a peanut for a week.

1 peanut has about 6 calories. I would not recommended that but it is possible to survive off of just that. Now you might not be as healthy as someone who is athletic and eats about 1500 calories but you aren't going to die.

Edit connor the number one killer among teens is not anorexia. It's accidental deaths aka car crashes and things like that. Edit rolls eyes* apparently no one knows anything about this.

No you will not damage your organs by just eating 300-500 calories. The reason why anoriexia is so dangerous is because they exercise to the point of exhaustion combined with a low calorie diet, like I mentioned above. This will damage your organs because you are burning much more than what you take in.

If you do nothing and eat about 500 calories a day that means, if your metabolism is working properly, which it won't be, then you have burned about 700 calories. However when you don't eat much your metabolism slows so in reality you might have only burned off about 100-300 calories which is normal for the human body. Also this is enough for daily function unless you only eat junk foods.

If you get the right vitamins and minerals your body will not break down your muscles and bones. Actually your body doesn't break down muscle for food very easily so it is one of the last things that your body will attack. The people in Africa are good examples of when the body breaks down muscle.

They get maybe 1000 calories a week if that and you are getting more than them.

It could potentially kill you, especially if you are very active. But even if it doesn't, it will really wreck your metabolism and you could suffer serious health issues for the rest of your life! Your body needs a certain amount of calories a day simply to function.

If you don't give it the calories and nutrients that it needs, it will eventually begin to shut down. I have a friend who was hospitalized for not eating enough. She got her food through a feeding tube and it was crushing to her loved ones.

You don't want to do that to yourself or to those who love you. Eating under around 1200 calories a day will send your body into starvation mode. This means that when you eat more than what you normally eat (300-500 calories) it will store up a good portion of what goes in because it isn't getting properly nourished; it doesn't know when it will get fed next so it does everything it can to survive as long as possible.

Try to slowly up the number to at least 1000 for now (preferably much more). Make sure you are eating extremely nutrient-rich foods of what you DO consume because when it comes down to it, it is the vitamins and minerals that your body needs, not so much the calories. (You could drink a half cup of maple syrup, which has no nutritional value and about 200 calories, or you could eat egg whites with a slice of whole grain bread and a piece of fruit for the same number of calories.

You body will benefit much more from the balanced meal than the cup of sugar.) I read something awhile ago that makes me think of this (sorry it's a little long): "If you set a calorie limit, you will fail. Maybe not today, but sometime this week, unless you have an actual mental eating disorder (which I will not even begin to cover, because only about 5% of you out there actually have unbalanced chemicals in your brain making you feel this way) you will fail. If you’re hungry, it’s because your body is telling you it needs nutrients to make energy.

Think about it, if you’re tired, ignoring it will just make you more tired, and more tired, until you involuntarily fall asleep. So what do you do usually, if you’re tired in the middle of the day? You take a nap.

You don’t fall asleep for 8 hours, you just take a nice little 15 minute nap. If you don’t your body will eventually force you into sleep. What about breathing?

If you’re constantly breathing in and out, you don’t even think about breathing, you don’t “crave” breath. But you start holding your breath, the more you want to breathe. The longer you hold it, the harder it gets, until all the sudden you burst out with big, gasping breaths you would never take if you had been breathing normally in the first place.

Usually we quit because its too uncomfortable but if you don’t, you will pass out and your body will take the air it wants whether you want it to or not. Not eating is exactly the same. I have never fasted.

I don’t condemn those who do, but I personally cannot do it, I don’t have that good of willpower. (You girls who are really good at it, please, do incredible things with your life because you have FANTASTIC self control. Honestly, you could run empires.) If I go all day without eating, almost guaranteed, I will stop through McDonald’s and get a large fry with mayonnaise, (for Christ’s sake, because that’s how my mom always ate them), or eat all of the cookies in the cupboard, or an entire pizza.

If I get hungry, I eat. Your body will make you eat if it gets hungry enough.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
