The democrats will answer 1. Yes 2. No, er I mean I support the right of free speech, so yes... er I mean no because we must brown nose this religion... er , no I mean we do not discriminate against Jesus in favor of the other... er, no I do favor not burning the Koran.
I'm not Mr. "Super-Liberal" but of course I support both of those rights. To say otherwise would be extraordinarily hypocritical. Our Constitution provides American citizens the right to do both of those things.
Now, do I think they're right? I personally do not have any problems with the mosque being built, but I understand that most do. And I think a protest is a perfectly acceptable way to show that they aren't happy with it.
I think burning ANYTHING, the Koran or whatever it is, during a protest is a little threatening and a bit extreme. I also don't see the wisdom in burning a Holy Book for spite when the main thing that accomplishes is driving the wedge deeper between Muslims and Americans. Not to mention, internationally, it will certainly incite Muslims who actually hate America to possibly step up the violence a little bit.
So, why risk that for a protest?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
