The traditional feast Turkey and dressing, baked ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, butter beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, usually some kind of salad. And for dessert, pecan pie, lemon meringue pie, red velvet cake, chess pie, and a 14 layer chocolate cake. I'm gaining ten pounds just thinking about it.

Trying to blend Cultures I'm Italian and my husband is Cuban and we have very different ideas of food. I don't eat fish so the Christmas eve fish fest is not on my menu! I cook a pork loin on Christmas eve with yuca & black beans with rice.
Christmas day usually consists of: Anti-pasta with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, black olives, marinated mushrooms, provolone cheese, pepperoni, salami, capicola, turkey served with dinner rolls. After that we have homemade lasagna. I make my lasagna with ground beef & pork.
Then we have fruit and chestnuts and other nuts and candy. Oh, and then we have dessert....which is just homemade cookies for Christmas. That is pretty typical.
I cut out a few courses from what y mom & grandma would do. My grandmonther would make "Italian Wedding Soup" (of course, we just called it meatball soup) and serve after the antipasta. My mom would then make 2 pounds of rigatoni with meatballs, bracciole and sausage.
Then we would have the "main course" which would be a turkey with the trimmings, followed by the fruits, nuts, etc. I tried to slim us down a little Sources: my life bippee_not_here_much's Recommendations Celebrations, Italian Style: Recipes and Menus for Special Occasions and Seasons of the Year Amazon List Price: $30.00 Used from: $4.62 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 3 reviews) .
A bunch of good things, because I have a large extended family. For Christmas, we usually have three meats: Roast Turkey, Baked Ham, and Roast Beef. For breads, we have the following: Biscuits, Yeast Rolls, Corn Bread, and regular loaf bread.
For starches, we have: mac-n-cheese (homemade), mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, au graten potatoes and cream corn. For vegetables, we have: green beans, pole beans, field peas, collard greens, cabbage, yellow squash (baked and boiled), baked acorn squash, broccoli (boiled and baked), rutabega, salad, and turnip greens. For sweets, we have: pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, baked yams and peaches, pound cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cake, fruit salad, assorted fruit pies and cobblers, and home made cookies.
There are also various other candy like sweets, mixed nuts, hoop cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and crackers. For drinks we have: Sweet and unsweet tea, soft drinks, milk, fruit juices, apple cider, and coffee. (Sorry, no alcohol.
Most of my family are Baptist and the Catholic branch doesn't drink much. ) For us it is more like an enormous buffet, rather than a few special dishes on the table. Sources: A lifetime of huge family Christmas dinners.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
