Why do you suppose Jehovah's Witnesses are banned from Russia?

Not that this directly answers your question, but just a little note: Wording is vital here- Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT banned in Russia. International news agencies do not report things accurately sometimes so careful what you read in the news. Some areas have funky stuff going on, more than others- e.

G those house-raids were not carried out all over the country. Vot openly attends meetings and distributes "non-extremist" literature freely. It is not a crime in Russia to be one of JWs, they just don't want us distributing *certain* (not all) publications.

Comment to ET- That tract is not banned; it was printed and distributed AFTER the Dec 8th 2009 case in response to the said court case ;).

This is a banned tract in Russia, in English: http://jw-media.org/rus/publications/t83... It says, in part: On December 8, 2009, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation issued a decision declaring a number of our publications “extremist.” Is Russia embracing the elevated ideals of President Medvedev’s words quoted above, or is it now stooping to an ugly campaign of slander and persecution of a religious minority? Only time will tell.

Here, though, are two things that are certain in this matter: First, repression will never succeed. We will not stop speaking tactfully and respectfully about Jehovah God and his Word, the Bible. (1 Peter 3:15) We did not stop when subjected to the horrors of Nazi Germany, we did not stop in the darkest days of our country’s repression, and we will not stop now.

—Acts 4:18-20. Second, such words as “dangerous sect,” “enemies of the nation,” and “extremist” have power only as long as people fall under their spell, mindlessly accepting their malicious implications. The tactics of innuendo and slander need not work on you.

We hope that you will make the effort to see through such empty talk.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
