Scary! I’m guessing the black stuff on the floor is mold. I would attack that first as it may also be the source of your smell.

I have found the Tilex works for anything that happens to crop up in my bathroom. It is a bleached based cleanser designed for mold and soap scum but I use it across the board for anything I come across in the bathroom. If the Tilex doesn’t get rid of your smell it may actually be cat urine which has soaked into the porus surface of you tub.(scary!) If that’s the case go to your local pet store and buy a product called Nature’s Miracle.

It is designed to specifically tackle the smell/stains associated with pet "accidents". If you stopper the drain and let this product soak into the floor of your tub, it should take care of the smell. You might want to lay out some WHITE paper towels on the floor of the tub to saturate and hold the cleaner in place while it works.

(The stuff isn’t cheap and I wouldn’t want to see it all go down the drain. ) Make sure you use white paper towels or the dye used to create the print on the paper towel will leach out into your tub floor creating a new problem. Replace the carpet, enzynes I have apartments and aside from heavy smokers this is one of the worst, well..... people who cooked with a lot of curry cause me headaches too but that’s another smelly.... I mean story. That stuff gets into the drywall! If the smell is in the carpets you can try replacing just the pad and using one of those enzyne products that are supposed to "actually eat away the odor."

I have not had a whole lot of luck at eleminating the odor but you may find it makes it more bearable. Otherwise, replace the carpet but treat the concrete with the enzyne before you put the new carpet down. You may also want to get an ozone machine (they can be rented) and run it for 24 hours before you put the new carpet in.

Hope this helps. There is really no easy fix. As for the black stuff on the bathtub.

I'm assuming it's a fiberglass tub, they are the worst. Take an old sheet that you can throw away. Get it wet and soak it in bleach.

Lay it on the floor of your bathtub. Make sure it's pretty wet. Let it sit for a day.

Remove the sheet, rinse the bathtub. It should sparkle. YOu may need to take a little commet to it after you bleach it but this usually does the trick.

Nature's Miracle and the Lime/Baking soda treatment Ew! I've experienced both...this is what has worked for me...Cat Urine Smell: There are products out there with enzymes in them. The one I use is called "Nature's Miracle".

Basically, you spray it where it smells, making sure to soak the area entirely. Then, you have to let it try completely. If you soak it up, it won't work.It needs time for the enzymes to completely "eat" the small-causing stuff.

After the smell is gone, you'll have to use a carpet cleaner to get rid of any surface stains. The two treatments can't be used at once because carpet cleaner will inhibit the enzyme action. Bathtub gunk:This will take some elbow grease, but this is what I do.

Rather than using harsh chemicals (like soft scrub or whatever), dampen the tub. Then, sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda on all the dirty areas. Finally, take a lime and cut it in half.

Use the lime half like a scrubber, and scrub with the lime and the baking soda. This will take a lot of elbow grease. You may have to switch limes while you're doing it.

This has helped before in tough situations. Good luck! If all else fails, I recommend complaining to your apartment landlord.

Sometimes they have industrial grade stuff. Sources: Experience .
