We have a dog and 3 cats and there are several places in our home where we can smell cat urine in our carpets. We have tried having the carpet professionally cleaned and the smell is still there. We don't think that the cats are actively continuing to urinate on those spots but rather that the odor is very difficult to get rid of.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a product and/or a way to get rid of the odor. Please answer only if you have a used a product that worked or have first hand knowledge of someone who has. Thank you.

Natures Miracle This question has been posted before and I learned of a product that really works. It is called Natures Miracle and is available in numerous stores including pet stores. We had a cat get into our garage and urinated and sprayed in a number of places.
This product even worked on cement! Also, I have a small dog that is home alone during the day while we are at work so I leave a ’piddle pad’ for her in case she needs to go. Sometimes she misses and the stream hits my carpet.
When that happens I can clean the spot with Natures Miracle and know the problem is taken care of. Prior to learning about this product I had tried many others and none of them worked, they only covered the odor temporarily. This stuff works!
Give it a try and I promise you will not be disappointed. Sources: experience with pets nonnax16's Recommendations Stain and Odor Remover Just for Cats- 1 Quart (32 24oz Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover It Works! .
ZERO ODOR! This is a fantastic product. My house is odor free because of this product. My sister has 7 (yes 7) cats, and there is NO ODOR in her house!
You can go to their web site and read all about the product. When the shipment arrives, you also get a small brochure that details how to get inbed urine OUT of the carpet by using this product. Sources: zeroOdorStore.com .
Nature's Miracle or Febreeze Laundry additive Febreeze laundry additive works the best, hands down, on getting rid of cat pee smell. However, they don't make it anymore (WHY!? WHY!?
), although it can be found sometimes online or in Big Lot-Job Lot kind of stores. I have no idea what's in it but I used to have a cat who peed on any cloth left on a horizontal surface and this stuff saved a lot of clothes from the ragbag. Regular Febreeze (the spray) is gross, and it only COVERS odors.
Nature's Miracle is available in pet stores and online. It's enzymes. It works, but you have to use it FIRST before any other chemicals. I suspect what's happened in your case is that you are cleaning the CARPET, but the smell is in the carpet PADDING.
And when it gets damp again (or it's humid out) the smell re-ignites. Baking Soda! I had the same problem once and tried just about everything. Until I saw in a chat room somewhere that you should wet the spot then spread baking soda over it (I used A LOT of baking soda).
Let the Baking Soda dry and then vacuum it up. I had to do this twice but it got rid of the odor. I hope this works for you too.

Yes! zeroodor.com/ I have a cat who was abused before I got him and he doesn't always make it to the litter box in time now. He also will pee on things when the litter box isn't exactly to his standards.
Zero Odor is *awesome*. To give you an idea... he peed on the couch. (You might have to spray 2 or 3 times if the urine has deeply penetrated.) I sprayed where he peed twice, and now the other two cats sleep there.
So if that doesn't tell you the smell is *gone*, I don't know what will. =) It's great for any kind of odor so far. I wish they had a laundry booster.
Usually I only have to spray once, by the way. For getting rid of urine smells in things that fit in the washer, you can use white vinegar, too..
Clean down to the pad. If your carpet cleaners only cleaned the carpet, not down to the pad, that may be the problem. Urine left behind in the pad beneath the carpet will continue to give off an odor.My carpet cleaner, who has gotten rid of really tough stains in my house, has a recipe for a cleaner made of common household ingredients.
He wrote a blog post that explained how to make the solution and how to get the urine cleaned out of the pad. The blog post is linked below. Hope that's helpful!

You can't get rid of it unless you use an ozone generator machine, because everything else won't actually destroy the odor as ozone will. If you're serious about getting rid of the smell, go to ozoneexperts.com/ -they are a manufacturing company based out of upstate NY who specialize in deodorization technology using ozone. These things work 100% and they offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
A little pricey, but well worth it if you are looking for something that really works. Com.
I have 2 cats & 2 dogs. Naturally there have been accidents - urine, vomit, a kidney infection. I have tried the specialty products like Nature's Miracle and I am sorry, but it doesn't work, at least not for me.
And you shouldn't use things like woolite or resolve on your carpet because they are designed to lighten stains, and in sense your carpet. Those products would either saturate the stains or mask the smell for a few days. Even the ones that were designed for steamers. As far as steaming, here is the problem.
With a steamer, you are pushing water and whatever chemical you are using down into the carpet. If the chemical is soapy, you are not breaking the stain apart. Instead you are just saturating it in the carpet.
The only thing I have found that works is Genesis 950. It's an all purpose cleaner that actually breaks the bond of stains. It is designed to work with water to absorb into the stain. Once it does this, it fully breaks it apart and allows you to remove up all of the lifted stain.
If you are not breaking the bond like 950 does, you do not get rid of the stain and the urine smell will return. Look at any other questions posted on here about pet urine stains. They all say they cleaned and scrubbed but the smell is still there.
It's because other products don't break the stain apart. Another plus to the product is it is environmentally friendly and non toxic. It won't make your pets sick.
In fact one of my cats loves rolling around in it after I clean with it. Granted I don't encourage that, but she doesn't listen. I found 950 at an auto garage and bought it to remove wall paint that was stained in my carpets for over 6 months.
Since then I have used it for nearly every cleaning dilemma I have had. If you can not find any near you, it is worth buying on line at amerikalstore.com.
I tried several different odor removal solutions and the only one that worked for cat urine was Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer Just for Cats Stain & Residue Eliminator. The regular Nature's Miracle did not work for cat urine. It worked on leather, wood, carpet, fabric and a suitcase.
I blotted the excess urine with paper towels, then thoroughly soaked the area (in the case of the suitcase I sprayed the solution). It took several days for the solution to dry. Note: I am sensitive to the smells and this solution has such a strong smell I could taste it.
However, once dry the smell of the solution and cat urine was TOTALLY gone and the cat has never gone back.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
