How do you line up the timing marks on a 3406E Cat engine?

Pin the engine on the flywheel. Line the timing mark on the cam gear with the timing mark located on the timing cover. The mark on the cover is located at the top and is just a bump formed in the cover.

Being from the old school and running 3406-B model Cats I bought a 3406-E that Cat rebuilt. It is set at 475 hp from Cat. It's time to crank up the horsepower.

After asking several people what 3406-E can be turned up to i'm still not sure, I was told anywhere from 500 hp to 625 hp.
