May sound unamerican but What's the difference between mem. Day and vets day?

Memorial Day honors soldiers who died in the line of duty; Veterans Day honors all veterans. Memorial Day originated in the 1860s as Decoration Day, honoring the US and Confederate soldiers who died fighting the Civil War. After World War I, Memorial Day was officially changed to honor soldiers who died fighting in any war.

Veterans Day began as Armistice Day in celebration of the end of World War I. After World War II, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor veterans of all wars.
