What if the Government shuts down?

It's not as big a deal as the media and others make out...in fact it is the recriprocal of what is happening now...they government is operaing without a budget and just paying whatever bills it creates...an insane method of doing business on that scale. The government must create a budget and it must stick to it if we have any hope of saving ourselves from financial destruction. Government is far too large...Obama has czars for various and sundry things with sub staffs serving them...something new to the government in the past two years.

The First Lady has a rather large staff of people to help plan her vacations and try to run the menu of the food industry of America....the list goes on and on. The President wants to settle on a budget that leaves spending at it's highest level in history and then only make cuts in discretionary spending. America must live up to its debts and pay them.It must also reasonably live up to all the money that it has take from employees and employers in the name of Social Security and Medicare...otherwise, we need to legalize ponzi schemes.

We face a very difficult future with some very difficult choices. WB.

It;s al total B.S. - I remember during Vietnam war about how the feds going 'shutdown' - what really funny is all they have to do is NOT build a single F-35 and they would have a extra trillion dollars right there - BTW the Iraq & Afganistan wars are NOT part of the budget ( it extra! ) and the reality is that the prolonged war is bringing America down. That the white elephant in the room!

War diverts funds from building USA. SH#$(&^Y@! We give 13 Billion to Egypt alone - can we just give them 12 billion and take that billion dollars to pay fighting soldiers thier paycheck?

Without rule there would be chaos and anarchy. Social systems would begin to shut down. Disorder, lawlessness, looting and cival disorder would ensue.

Actually OI think that one of the reasons for the financial misery is indeed that already now many people do not pay their taxes correctly. Stopping to pay taxes would only turn it worse. From my point of view one of the biggest financial crimes is the so called "Transfer Pricing" that has been established by the OECD.It allows corporations to shift their business operations from one country to another and so to use gaps in accounting to prevent tax payments.

So nearly every time if corporations have delcining profits or claim losses then its the result of accounting tricks in order not to pay taxes. And not only that this Transfer Pricing prevents tax payments, it also harms the US workforce. Many Americans still would have their jobs if this system wouldn´t exist.

If more Americans would be employed automatically the tax income of the government would increase while costs for social welfare would decrease. Especially in times of a crisis the citizens have to forget if they are reps or dems, or even to which ethinic group they belong to. The US can only handle the crisis if all Americans stand together and fight the real reasons of the economic armageddon.

A second reason for the crisis is the puurchasing behavior of American citizens. If people tend to buy only cheap goods imported from Asia then the US businesses suffer and the Asian companies will tax most of their profits in Asia. But lets face it, how many Chinese people purchase goods that are manufactured in the US?

They also want cheap goods and purchase their own goods. Sometimes Americans have to think of the long term consequences of their own purchase behavior. For an individual it is sometimes not possible to buy expensive US goods, but if a nation as whole does so, then the entire nation will struggle.

Government funding runs out Friday, but Congress has to reach a deal by the end of the day Tuesday if it wants to avoid a lapse in federal finances. But not all federal agencies will suffer equally if lawmakers fail to approve another short-term stopgap measure or long-term FY 2011 budget bill in time. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
