Simple Salsa Recipe Ingredients * 1 28-oz can whole tomatoes, preferably fire-roasted (Muir Glen makes an excellent product. ) * 1 7-oz can green chiles, chopped (or one large 6 inch or two smaller anaheim chiles, roasted under a broiler or directly on a gas stove burner so that the outer skin has completely blackened. Put into a brown paper bag for a few minutes after roasting to loosen the blackened skin.

Remove and discard the blackened skin. Remove the stem, seeds, and ribs. Chop.) * 1 clove of garlic, or 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt * 2 green onions (scallions), chopped, including the green parts (about 1/3 cup) * 1 Tbsp olive oil * 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar * 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (can supplement with fresh) * 1/4 cup of very loosely packed fresh chopped cilantro * Freshly ground black pepperMethod1 Remove just the tomatoes from the can of whole tomatoes, place in a medium sized non-reactive mixing bowl.

Using your fingers, or a fork and a sharp small knife, shred or break up the tomatoes.2 Mix in chopped green chiles, green onions, garlic, olive oil and vinegar. Add back in about 1/4 cup of the tomato sauce from the can of whole tomatoes. Sprinkle on about 1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano.

Mix in and taste. Adjust if needed. Add cilantro, and pepper to taste.

Refrigerate when not using. Will keep several days. Makes 2-3 cups.

1 Well, the scale situation is interesting. It's still showing a one pound weight loss from last week but it had shown a two pound weight loss since this past Saturday and that was not good, too fast. Since, I ate those shrimp four days straight which had a lot of salt from boiling, I feel the scale went up a 1 pound but I'm still down overall.

I feel I have to do a few things differently. I feel I eat too much salt. I think it's a habit.

I think many people do it without realizing that we shouldn't be liberal with salt but just enough to get by. I also know that I still don't drink enough water. I don't care if an article says you don't have to drink as much because I feel overall we do have to drink a certain amount.

I also want to work on that dumbbell area and with the help of y'all and some things I've discovered I am going to try to incorporate that too. It would be so easy but I still haven't done the butt routine that I suggested to everyone? What's up with that!

It's so funny but I was thinking this morning about how we started this and the times when we've had to tell each other something that we felt they might not be doing right. We didn't know each other as well as we do now and we were all concentrating so hard in establishing a healthy eating pattern. We were still researching and trying to find our target area of calories for the day and at first I didn't even know the caloric content of what I was eating.

Remember when I said, "I have to find a site where I can find out what amount I'm eating. " At that time, when I hit plateaus, finally Carla popped up and simply said, "You're not eating enough. " "You're too low."Well, I was concentrating so hard and didn't really now yet how many calories I was supposed to have at that time and I knew then that I had to start all over and figure it out again.

She was right and I may not have wanted to hear it but she was right. I can remember in the beginning when it was so hard to switch that first month and half when I must have hit a plateau and Carla stated, "You have to exercise when you want to lose weight, it works together. Well, again that was the last thing I wanted to hear.

Why? I hadn't exercised for months or years consistently and I had to use all of my energy towards learning to eat correctly. I didn't feel at the time that I could add on exercising until I had mastered some type of new eating pattern and knew what I was doing.

Eventually I did incorporate the exercising but it was after one month and half and not consistenly until after two months to two and half. She was right again. Now I couldn't imagine myself not having exercising as part of my routine.

I guess everything takes time and we all learn as we go.

2 Can anyone tell me what type of whole grain small wrap is best. Do they mean whole grain made out of corn or is there one made out of wheat. I think wraps sound great and I don't use them but want to but don't know which one to buy.

I think it would be great if some of you posted some of your simple wrap concoctions so that we could grab or make one for a quick part of our lunch or supper. I know hummus could be used but I also see in here pesto is good, so which type of pesto. I bet refried beans are good in a wrap because they're good in a taco or soft taco.

3 Carla, thanks for the info on the henna on yesterday's string. Do you think topaz or hazel would be too light for me? The others sound too red or too dark.

But the topaz and hazel say they're for salt and pepper, and I don't have that. Mamasue, I tend to not worry about my salt intake and even occasionally sprinkle some on my food at the table. If my blood pressure were any lower I'd be dead and I am not at risk for heart disease, so I don't really worry about it.

Still, I assume it would be better if I didn't do it. Years ago I eliminated virtually all salt for awhile. You do get used to it and it's not that bad.

I probably ought to cut back too. I don't know about wraps, I don't use them that often. I'd assume by whole grain they mean whole wheat, not corn, but I'm not really sure.

I like the spinach, dried tomato, or other flavored ones because they're pretty and give the wrap a little more flavor and presumably nutrition. Be sure to buy fat free refried beans. The regular ones have a lot of fat and are very high in calories.

When I do them, I just throw in whatever I have around -- spinach, beans, hummus, pickle, olives, cheese, tomatoes, salsa, anything small that will fold well. Sometimes I do scrambled eggs in them. A really yummy one is onion jam, chopped apple, chopped walnuts, and shredded cheese.

I did my butt exercises this morning waiting for the coffee. :-) It's 57 and windy still. What happened to summer?

I really want to get back out there and do something. I'm sore through the shoulders from the big workout Sunday but I want to do what I can remember from that workout too. I was down .5 lb this morning.

I'm having EM/PB with 1/2 banana for breakfast.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
