Salsa recipie Ingredients * 1 28-oz can whole tomatoes, preferably fire-roasted (Muir Glen makes an excellent product. ) * 1 7-oz can green chiles, chopped (or one large 6 inch or two smaller anaheim chiles, roasted under a broiler or directly on a gas stove burner so that the outer skin has completely blackened. Put into a brown paper bag for a few minutes after roasting to loosen the blackened skin.

Remove and discard the blackened skin. Remove the stem, seeds, and ribs. Chop.) * 1 clove of garlic, or 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt * 2 green onions (scallions), chopped, including the green parts (about 1/3 cup) * 1 Tbsp olive oil * 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar * 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (can supplement with fresh) * 1/4 cup of very loosely packed fresh chopped cilantro * Freshly ground black pepper Method 1 Remove just the tomatoes from the can of whole tomatoes, place in a medium sized non-reactive mixing bowl.

Using your fingers, or a fork and a sharp small knife, shred or break up the tomatoes. 2 Mix in chopped green chiles, green onions, garlic, olive oil and vinegar. Add back in about 1/4 cup of the tomato sauce from the can of whole tomatoes.

Sprinkle on about 1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano. Mix in and taste. Adjust if needed.

Add cilantro, and pepper to taste. Refrigerate when not using. Will keep several days.

Makes 2-3 cups. Sources: http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/001776simple_salsa.php .

1 Scale is at a 119.5, which is where I want it to be. If it takes me two weeks to lose one pound that would be great. Yesterday my intake was under 1,200 but then again, who actually knows, I could be off by 100 at times.

I am estimating my intake to the best degree possible. We all know that in our former habits and from what we're read how many eaters think, I really had no idea of the calories I was eating each day. That's really sort of scary if you stop and think about it.

Unless a person takes the time to know something about the amount of calories they have as their intake, they are pretty much lost if they are attempting to lose weight or maintain it in the long run. Still, I can't imagine eating more than 1,400 when I do maintain fully and I do feel that I would put weight on if I go over in a steady fashion. Maybe that's just me or maybe it's due to my age, who knows.

We'll see, that's all I can say at this point. I am finding my search of maintenance to be as interesting as it was when I first started to cut back my intake. I guess it will be a journey too.

Sharon, as far as exercising with a tape for conditioning, it might seem boring but it's not. Pilates is a full workout that for some reason is extremely relaxing. It's like you're there conditioning yourself in a relaxed state and you're totally concentrating on performing the exercises to the fullest.

All while you do it, you're challenged but at the end it's so rewarding because you feel full of energy and you know that your exercising is making you stronger. You feel as though your muscles are growing stronger and stronger throughout your body but in a nice sleek way. Remember, I started out and still do a 20 minute version and from the start I began to feel my stomach muscles contract when I was walking. It improves my posture because the back muscles get so much stronger but most of all, it's very relaxing after you learn the moves and it's done at a pace that's relaxing.

2 sharon, sounds like you had a great time yesterday! Oh I agree susan, pilates is wonderful! And for me, part of a good workout is the ability of it to go by fast.

If it's a really good dvd or or tape or whatever, it goes by super fast and i'm not looking at the time. Ok so I bought this dvd called Workout: One on One training with Jackie after watching this reality show called Workout on Bravo. Here it is: amazon.com/Workout-One-One-Training-Jack... my LORD it was HARD!

It is divided into 3 20 minute segments, one for the abs, one for lower body, and one for upper body. I started the lower body and could only get halfway through. My legs are like jelly. So then I did the ab workout and got 15 mins through it.

Wow. I don't see how anyone can do all three workouts in one session. However, I can feel it working, so that's good.

Cereal for breakfast with 1/2 banana.

3 It sounds really good CK. My pilates really pushes me. I'm not into squats and I know they are great for you but at my age, that workout sounds like a little too much for me.My walking covers my cardio and my conditioning covers the rest but if I were your age, I could see how it would be fun and challenging.

It looks like a great DVD and I like the 20 minute segments. I'm all for the 20 minute thing, it's compact, challenging, yet not too long. I'm only doing the longer version of the Pilates tape twice a week, I think she said it's not an everyday DVD like the 20 minute tape that you can do every day.

4 mamasue, I didn't mean it was boring. I meant I just hate to exercise so much that I resist making the time to do a full program of them. That's why sneaking in the quickie ones throughout the day works best for me.

Well, the scale was up 2 lbs. I'm disappointed but not surprised. I think the only thing I overate was the fried rice.

But I always seem to be overly sensitive to any foods I don't make myself. Hopefully it's a combination of more salt than I'm used to and the fact that I don't go to the bathroom when I'm traveling (well, except to pee). But I expect I'll still be up from last week tomorrow for weigh day.

:-( Oh well. Back on track. It's been awhile since I've had to say that.

Breakfast is oatmeal with raisins and almond milk.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
