How long can you keep flour in the refrigerator? I always keep mine in the frig from the day of purchase?

I always keep mine in the frig from the day of purchase. From the first time I had bugs in my flour (which was many years ago) I have always kept the flour (which now I use Wondra) also Bisquick in the frig from the day of purchase. But just how long can these be kept, months, years?

Freezer, not refrigerator If you keep it wrapped up very tightly, it can last for years. But I recommend keeping it in the freezer, if you're going to keep it that long. Refrigerators are moist, humid places, and that's not good for flour.

If you keep it sealed in a ziplock bag or other airtight container, the humidity can still get to it eventually. It can spoil your flour or bring in flavors from food. You don't want your cookies tasting like zucchini and fish.

The freezer is better. Since it's below the freezing point of water, the humidity is frozen and can't get into your flour. You can keep flour in the freezer essentially forever, if it's wrapped up tight.

There is one problem, though: every time you take it out, the cold flour condenses some moisture on it. It's not too bad, but if you're taking it out every single day to use a few teaspoons of it, it could get bad by the end. Personally, I use a sturdy cannister to keep the bugs out, because I don't have room in my refrigerator or freezer for stuff that doesn't need to be kept cold.

Almost 100% of the time people get Weevils in their food, they are brought home from the store of purchase. If you keep pasta and other flour based items in your cupboard and they don't get infested, then you should be safe to store your regular flour. If you bring home some infected flour or Bisquick and store them in the refrigerator, then you will have cold and slow moving weevils, but you will still have weevils in your refrigerator.By the way, the weevils in flour are not harmful to humans, and it gives you protien reinforced flour.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
